Myles Jack Report

One of the top prospects in the country, is a three year player out of UCLA, Myles Jack. He is a fast, athletic linebacker who flies around the field. At 6-1, 245 pounds, he has ideal size for his position, and someone that could be a difference maker on a defense.

His first year as a Bruin, he had 76 total tackles, only to raise it to 87 the next year. In 2015, however he had a disappointing end to his season. According to an NFL.com report, Jack torn his meniscus ending his season, in which he only played 3 games.

Jack is a hard hitting linebacker, and when he gets an opportunity to hit someone he takes it. He is a bit of a high tackler, but gets his arms around the offensive player and slams him to the turf. Watching him play, I would have liked to see more in run support, but he was primarily a cover linebacker in the games I saw.

In pass coverage he is most likely the best linebacker I’ve seen. He plays like a cornerback, with great positioning and fights for the ball. He is not beaten with speed, even when he is split out on a receiver. In fact he played a lot of nickel corner man-to-man, which is amazing for a guy his size.

Because of the this I like really like him as a safety at the NFL level. He is excellent in open field tackles, and can quickly fly and punish someone. He has the skill set to play at this position, and can be a dynamic in this role. This flexibility makes him very valuable for an NFL team who could use him in multiple packages.

The Cowboys are in need of a linebacker, considering the free agents soon to be in Rolando McClain and Kyle Wilber. His versatility will also enable him to fill in for injured players, and that is something the Cowboys could use with the history of Sean Lee. Not only that but he is someone you could put back at the strong safety position and act like a Kam Chancellor or Darren Woodson, to bolster the back end of the defense.

Myles Jack has all the talent to make at the next level. He can play both linebacker and safety. He is great in coverage, and can shut down slot receivers. His only negative is in the run game, and that is simply because he was asked to play coverage more than the run. Jack is a tremendous tackler in space, and will make his presence known when he gets there.
